HISTORY
AMG was incorporated in the Netherlands in November 2006. While AMG is a new company, its constituent units have significant operating histories. The company is organised into two units: Advanced Materials and Engineering Systems.

Advanced Materials Unit
The Advanced Materials unit traces its origins in the development and production of specialty metals to 1911, when GfE Gesselschaft für Elektrometallurgie mbH was founded as a producer of vanadium alloys and chemicals in Nürnberg, Germany. In 1937, GfE expanded its products and operations through the establishing of a UK subsidiary, London & Scandinavian Metallurgical Company, Ltd . In the 1940s, GfE reincorporated itself in the United States, where it operated under the name Metallurg, Inc. In the late 1970s, Metallurg expanded its operations into Brazil through the acquisition of Companhia Industrial Fluminense.

Société Industrielle et Chimique de l’Aisne (SICA) , the predecessor company to Sudamin Holding S.A. , entered the antimony trioxide business in 1933 and has been operating at the same facility in Chauny, France, since then. SICA expanded its antimony trioxide capacity with the acquisition of another French producer in 2001.
