Five-time Grammy Award winner and disco icon of the 70s Donna Summer died of lung cancer at the age of 63 on Thursday.
A day after the iconic singer died, her family confirmed reports that the cause of death was lung cancer, but denied that it was not related to smoking. Summer’s family issued the statement amidst various inaccurate reports surfacing. According to a new family statement, “Ms. Summer was a non-smoker”. To be fair, there are a number of other factors that can be attributed to having lung cancer but exact details connected to the treatment and diagnosis of Summer remain confidential. Summer’s debut performance came when the scheduled church singer didn’t make it and she was asked to fill in. She was 10 years old then. Meanwhile, her big break came in her teens when she auditioned and got the role for the European version of “Hair”. Studio Recording Tips

Over a million new users have registered at myspace.com in the previous month, averaging 40,000 accounts activated daily. Its new owners attribute this positive response mainly to Myspace’s integration with Twitter and Facebook. The ousted social network star has transformed into an online community for music enthusiasts and appears to be growing into a platform that is ready to co-exist with Twitter and Facebook. Instead of competing with Facebook, it is now going head to head with online music services like Rdio, Jango, Pandora and Spotify. So it was not at all surprising for them to sell it in June 2011 to Specific Media for only USD 35 million, a mere 6% of their original valuation. The new owners, Chris and Tim Vanderhook, along with artist Justin Timberlake invested and reinvented Myspace. They managed to shift the site’s focus from social networking into an entertainment portal. Since its launch ...

WOW VIDEOKE was there when the videoke craze started for the Filipinos, in the form of WOW Magic Sing -- and the magic mic became the icon of the decade. In the Pinoy frame of mind, the magic mic has been seen as equated with portable karaoke machines, portable videoke machines and videoke consoles. This is with good reason -- the Filipinos were so into videoke that a portable karaoke machine, a magic mic that you can easily bring around was quite a technological wonder for every one. That was only a decade ago, when portable videoke devices first entered the country. These magic mic devices were manufactured by EnterTech Ltd. (ET) of Korea under the magic sing brand, and the products easily and rapidly gained acceptance given the Pinoys’ inclination to singing. In 2003, In-a-Jiffy Enterprises (IAJE) signed a distribution agreement with ET to formally distribute the products locally as WOW magic sing. But with its commitment of providing the Filipinos with the best videoke experience, the brand was changed to WOW Videoke -- still the magic mic that we all came to know but much better, with the intention of bringing in more portable karaoke products that offer better value, quality and experience. Thus, a new supplier was tapped in TJ Media Ltd, currently one of the world’s leading karaoke manufacturers. TJ Media products are known for innovation and high quality as they are engineered and produced strictly in Korea. Highlighte... « previous next » |
