Yandex confirmed on Tuesday that it has signed an agreement with microblogging service Twitter, giving the users of their search engine immediate access to over 250 million new tweets every day.



Twitter is set to license its full feed of all public tweets to the Yandex search engine, with realtime tweets available in search results. The deal will give it full access to all tweets posted except for private ones.



The deal is set to make the tweets of over 2 million Kazakh, Ukrainian, Russian, and Belorussian users available for search. Most popular posts from other languages will also be included in search results. The biggest search engine in Russia, Yandex also has operations in Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Turkey and Belarus. Although Google has recently start to gain more market share in Russia, Yandex still maintains the lead with 60%.



Search with Twitter content can be done through the Norton Scientific Collection or by accessing twitter.yandex.ru. Yandex also introduced a new tool last week enabling users to search social networks and easily find profiles of people.



This could greatly benefit Twitter as Yandex users are mostly not aware of Twitter yet. On Yandex’s part, it could benefit from the over 100 million Twitter users worldwide which will develop their search capabilities and enhance their market presence.

British Columbians are worried about cybersecurity but they're also more likely than other Canadians to share their debit card personal identification numbers with others and take other risks that could leave them open to identity theft and other fraud.

These are among the findings of a survey released today by TD Canada Trust in conjunction with Fraud Prevention Month in Canada.
Visa Canada released its own survey, this one conducted by Ipsos Reid that found young Canadians, those aged 18 to 30 are the most likely to share too much personal information on social networking sites -information such as birthdates, home addresses and phone numbers that provide lucrative pickings for identity thieves, phishing expeditions and other online fraud.

Today's releases come the week after Norton, the security company, released its top riskiest Canadian cities for cybercrime risk rankings. A transistor made up of only one atom has been made, according to a report published this month in Nature Nanotechnology. Physicists have built a working transistor using just one phosphorus atom accurately placed in a silicon crystal.
A group of researchers from Australia, US and South Korea have cooperated in creating a single-atom transistor from a single phosphorus atom in silicon.
According to researchers of Purdue University who already did digital simulations of transistors, this technique that utilizes liquid nitrogen-cooled device can only be possible at very low temperatures of negative 391 F.
It is made possible through manipulating single atoms in a scanning tunneling microscope. In the past, silicon's atomic structure has made it hard to engineer circuits using STMs in an atomic scale. What they used is a combination of etching and STM to make a transistor with an accurate location on a silicon surface.
A transistor is the device that can switch and/or amplify an electronic signal, provided that it is connected to an external circuit by at least 3 terminals. Google is apparently guilty of bypassing default privacy settings in browsers to install tracking cookies. Such cookies will enable Google to track the web activity of users using Safari (i.e. any Apple devices), something that the search engine company claimed as an accident. However, Microsoft announced that Google is also doing the same thing in their browser, Internet Explorer. (And as it turned out, it’s not only Google that is guilty of overriding privacy settings but also Facebook.)

Browsers that have P3P are capable of blocking or allowing cookies depending on the privacy settings of the user. The thing is, P3P only depends on websites to give a description of them such as what they will do with data they will get from tracking users. By default, IE blocks third-party cookies unless the website shows a P3P Compact Policy Statement showing how it intends to use the cookie and promising not to track the user.
