The UK tourism industry has been extremely successful in recent years as the number of domestic holidays taken has increased and inbound visitor numbers have risen. In 2011 the number of British holidaymakers taking their vacations in the UK increased so greatly that it caused a 10% rise in the income generated for the UK tourism industry. This was largely a result of the current economic situation in the UK that has seen the travel budget for many reduced significantly and one of the hottest summers on record.
