In week four, the Oregon Ducks will be chasing their 13th conference win in a row when they go to Tuscon, AZ to play the Arizona Wildcats. The Ducks recovered from their opening season loss against the LSU Tigers by blowing out two straight non-BCS opponents in Autzen Stadium in Eugene, OR.
The Ducks uptempo offense is led by Darron Thomas at quarterback and LaMichael James as the feature back. After a slow start, James had 204 yards on only 12 rushing attempts and three touchdowns against the Missouri State Bears. Freshman De'Anthony Thomas has also developed into quite the play maker so far early in the season. He has 170 yards rushing and 153 yards receiving for three touchdowns. Buffet Rule - Obama's Millionaire Tax Rate Increase: Is it the correct path for our country?
President Barrack Obama is expected to seek a new tax rate for millionaire's in America. The purpose of the new tax rate is to ensure millionaire's pay an equal percentage of their wealth as do taxpayers from the middle class.
According to White House spokesmen, Obama will announce this new plan as part of his proposal on Monday for long term deficit reduction. It is being called the Buffet Rule after multi-billionaire Warren Buffet because of complaints he made about rich people like him paying a less amount of their income in federal taxes than those making middle class wages. The Buffet Rule will seek a new base tax rate for the wealthy to ensure they are paying the same amount of taxes on their income as middle class tax payers. It is essentially a new tax rate for the rich. Do you agree with the Buffet Rule? Is it a good idea for our country? Emmy Nominees: Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series

Which drama series do you think deserves the Emmy?
Boardwalk Empire (HBO), which premiered in 2010, is set in Atlantic City, New Jersey during the Prohibition era of the 1920s and 30s. The first episode earns the dubious honor of "most expensive pilot" at $18 million in production costs. Apparently it paid off, because the show has received several nominations from the Writers Guild of America, the Golden Globes and now the Emmys, and critical reviews have been overwhelmingly positive. The Good Wife (CBS) began in 2009 and has been renewed for a third season. The show deals with a woman whose husband has been incarcerated following a public sex scandal, inspired by most of the male politician sex scandals you can think of, and the creators' thoughts about what the diligent wife standing by must be thinking during those times. The second season is generally considered an improvement on the first, and The Good Wife has earned 9 Emmy nominations this year. Mad Men (AMC) has been a darling of critics and viewers since 2007. Another period piece, it's set in the 1960s at a fictional advertising agency in New York City. Actor Jon Hamm has found his breakthrough role as advertising creative director Don Draper, and he's up for Best Lead Actor in a Drama for the third time this year. Mad Men has won the Emmy for best drama series in 2008, 2009 and 2010 -- it's likely to win again. Friday Night Lights (Dir... Emmy Nominees: Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy

Betty White, who fills a niche all her own, and Jane Krakowski round out the nominees. In addition to being up for an Emmy for her role, Jane Lynch will be hosting the awards show. She'll do the job as herself, not as her character, despite talk to the contrary.

Do you like the choice?
At the end of the Bachelor Pad 2 season finale, we learn Ben Flajnik has been chosen to be the new Bachelor. Ben was runner-up in Ashley Hebert's season of Bachelorette last year.
He seemed to be a really nice and genuine guy in Ashley's season, and he probably would be a great husband for someone. However, I'm not happy with the choice. I'm getting tired of them just recycling former contestants. Instead, I would much rather get introduced and meet someone completely different and new. I already know everything about Ben. Of course, I'll watch the show, but I would have preferred a new face and a new story to learn. Ben Flajnik is the new Bachelor! Do you like the choice? « previous next » |
