Micron Optics, Inc. announces a significant global expansion of the company’s established system integrators of fiber Bragg grating (FBG) based optical sensors and sensing interrogators. This added talent in Asia, Europe, and the Americas provides customers with additional opportunities to use fiber optic sensors’ inherent immunity to EMI, multiplexing capability, and small physical size in challenging civil, industrial, power, aerospace, and transportation applications. The combination of Micron Optics’ optical sensing products with the expertise of its system integrators creates a unique and unparalleled opportunity to make impossible measurements become possible.
The explosive growth of the optical sensing market in Asia is now further supported by CMIWS, a system integrator of Micron Optics’ products in Japan. Fiber optic sensing technology has been used within the country for over a decade, and this new sales channel will continue its strong growth within marketplace.

Boise: Micron Technology Inc has settled a lawsuit in which Oracle Corp accused the memory chipmaker and other companies of artificially inflating prices for microchips.

The 2010 lawsuit claimed that Micron and the other companies conspired to raise prices from 1998 through 2002, in violation of federal and state antitrust laws.

Micron makes semiconductor chips for computers, mobile devices, cameras and other devices. It makes products under the Lexar and Crucial brands. Micron announced the settlement late Thursday without providing details such as financial terms.

Oracle had accused Micron and four other companies of artificially inflating prices above what Oracle's Sun Microsystems business should have paid for them. The lawsuit that was settled did not name the other companies as defendants.
