This event was expected to feature Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones' first title defense against former Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans. But during his win over Mauricio Rua, Jones tore a ligament in his right hand, which was expected to keep him sidelined until late 2011.. Not willing to wait, Evans accepted a fight against Phil Davis. However, Jones later found out that he would no longer require surgery and now is expected to make his first title defense against Quinton Jackson on September 24, 2011 at UFC 135.
On July 12, Phil Davis pulled out of his main event bout with Rashad Evans due to a knee injury suffered during training. Tito Ortiz was offered to step in as Davis' replacement but initially declined. Evans was rumored to face Lyoto Machida, in a rematch of their bout at UFC 98. Machida's camp verbally accepted the fight. However, when UFC President Dana White called Machida's camp again to confirm the fight, the camp said Machida would fight only if he received higher pay, which White declined. In the meanwhile, Tito Ortiz reconsidered the offer and will now replace Davis.

UFC 133 will take place Aug. 6 from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Former UFC champions Rashad Evans and Tito Ortiz will face each other in the main event.

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans was originally slated to face Jon Jones for the UFC light heavyweight title, but an injury has forced Jones to withdraw from the fight.

Evans was then set to face Phil Davis in a fight that would determine the division's No. 1 contender, but he too has been pulled from the card due to injury. Hours after Davis was removed, reports that Evans would rematch former UFC champion Lyoto Machida were confirmed by multiple sources. The reports turned out to be premature. Machida ultimately decided the four-week notice was not enough time to prepare.

A bout between Junior dos Santos and Shane Carwin will headline the event. The winner of the fight is expected to face off against current UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez.Brock Lesnar was scheduled to fight Dos Santos after their coaching stint on The Ultimate Fighter 13, but due to a reoccurring illness he was replaced by Carwin. Originally, a matchup between Carwin and Jon Olav Einemo was scheduled for this event. Einemo will remain on the card and now be fighting Dave Herman, who was pulled from a matchup with Joey Beltran as a result. Beltran will now be matched up against Aaron Rosa.

The 2011 NBA Finals is the championship series of the 2010–11 season of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the conclusion of the season's playoffs. The champions of the Eastern Conference, the Miami Heat, will face the champions of the Western Conference, the Dallas Mavericks, under a 2–3–2 rotation starting on May 31, 2011 and ending no later than June 14, 2011 on ABC. The series is also the second time that the same company (American Airlines) held the naming rights for both finals venues.
Both the Mavericks and Heat are making their second appearance in the NBA Finals, the first for both teams being the 2006 NBA Finals. This Finals marks a rematch of the 2006 Finals, won by Miami in six games.
